With 2025 well underway, the wrestling season is building to major events such as the Royal Rumble right around the corner. That means WrestleMania season will soon be heating up. WWE also started a new era early in 2025 with a major move to streaming and Monday Night Raw debuting weekly on Netflix. Also, most of WWE’s digital library and major events are now streaming on Netflix outside of the United States. Essentially, Netflix is the new streaming hub for WWE content outside of the United States, where WWE premium live events and library will remain on Peacock until 2026.
With all that in mind, it’s time to look at Superstars poised to become even bigger stars this year. These are Superstars who have already broken through or become massively popular, but their work in 2024 has put them a cut above the rest and prepped them for even bigger stardom in 2025.
5. Dominik Mysterio
When Dominik Mysterio first started in WWE, he didn’t seem like much. He was Rey Mysterio’s plucky and fresh-faced son. However, it took turning on his father and joining The Judgment Day for Dominik to truly find his own path in the business. 2024 was a great year for Dominik Mysterio. He was already hated for being the “boyfriend” of “Mami” Rhea Ripley. However, things got only worse when he betrayed “Mami” in favor of Liv Morgan in 2024, becoming a key figure in one of WWE’s hottest feuds of the year.
Dominik Mysterio essentially became one of WWE’s most hated heels in WWE. Fans didn’t like that he was so close to Ripley, and Ripley and Dominik leaned into that. Fans hated him even more after he betrayed Ripley for Morgan for chicken tendies and a PlayStation 5. Mysterio became so hated that his boos during his segments are deafening and fans don’t even want him to speak on the microphone. Dominik Mysterio plays the role of heel exceptionally and only plays into the things that fans dislike further. Not only that, Mysterio has proven to be a consistent and reliable worker in the ring.
In 2025, the key for Dominik Mysterio will be how to follow up now that the feud with Ripley and Morgan looks to be over. Is it time for Dominik to split off from The Judgment Day and find his own way? It will be interesting to see if Mysterio can be a heel on his own or even turn babyface again. That said, Mysterio has more than proven with his work in 2024 that he’s earned that opportunity.
4. Rhea Ripley
If you want to see a great example of progression, look at Rhea Ripley beating Asuka at WrestleMania 37 compared to the Rhea Ripley who beat Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 40. Ripley was already an exceptional talent several years ago, but her character hadn’t quite connected yet with the WWE Universe. Several years later, she’s now one of the top Superstars in the WWE Universe. Rhea Ripley emerged in 2024 as not only one of the top stars of the women’s division, but also one of the top stars in the WWE period.
She was repeatedly put in top slots where she excelled. Case in point, she returned to her native Australia at WWE Elimination Chamber: Perth and her title defense against Nia Jax was slotted as the main event of the card. Her storyline with Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio, which saw her being betrayed and excommunicated from The Judgment Day, escalated “Mami” Ripley’s popularity even further. The betrayal made Ripley and her Terror Twins partner Damian Priest into top babyfaces looking for payback against their former stablemates. 2024 was the year Rhea Ripley became a transcendent Superstar for WWE.
3. Jacob Fatu
Jacob Fatu finally made his WWE debut last year, joining The Bloodline and becoming a key player in The New Bloodline’s feud against The OG Bloodline. Fatu set himself apart as an imposing, formidable presence as the enforcer and powerhouse of the group. Fatu was already an experienced veteran by the time he signed with WWE, and last year, he more than proved he was ready for the bigger stage. He also looks to be in the best physical shape of his career. Fatu excels at doing a lot with very little, and he exudes an intense aura.
Fatu has all the makings of being a future world champion if WWE and creative head Paul “Triple H” Levesque play their cards right. Jacob Fatu’s work has been so great that he’s already surpassed his leader in The Bloodline, Solo Sikoa, and frequently overshadows his cousin. It will be interesting to see who gets the “Diesel Push” at the Royal Rumble this year because Jacob Fatu would be an excellent candidate for that role. Jacob Fatu is a Superstar to watch for a potential ascension in 2025.
2. Chelsea Green
Chelsea Green made a welcome return to WWE in 2023. After some uncertainty in the women’s tag team division, she formed a strong tag team duo with Piper Niven, enjoying a nice run with the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Green established herself as a good heel, basically portraying a glorified “Karen”-type, or someone who epitomizes, “I’d like to speak to your manager!” However, that was only a preview of things to come for Chelsea Green in 2024 when she truly broke out. Chelsea Green is a talent who truly gets it. She’s a performer who doesn’t care about wins and losses. But she understands when she’s on television, that is premium air time to get over. Green understands how to meticulously build her character, establishing herself as “The Hot Mess” and telling fans to shush. Having Samantha Irvin’s great ring introductions also helped.
While she’s a tremendous heel, Green became even more in 2024. She had a strong showcase in the women’s Money in the Bank match at last year’s event, but she came up short. However, she also had an exceptional feud on Friday Night SmackDown with Michin, culminating in an amazing Dumpster Match during a September Edition of Friday Night SmackDown. Chelsea Green ultimately had her moment in the historic tournament to crown the inaugural WWE Women’s United States Champion. Green won the opening round match, beat Bayley in the semifinals, and earned her shot at greatness in the finals against her rival Michin at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Green pulled off the big upset victory becoming the first WWE Women’s US Champion in history.
Green has had her ups and downs throughout her career. She’s dealt with terrible setbacks such as injuries and getting released. Now, she’s carved out her place in history as the first WWE Women’s US Champion. Like she told Byron Saxton after her victory at SNME, “Now’s the freaking time!” It is the freaking time for Chelsea Green!
1. Liv Morgan
For 2024, Liv Morgan defined the phrase “taking the ball and running with it”. She came back from her shoulder injury early in the year, keen to start her self-proclaimed “Revenge Tour”. This culminated at King and Queen of the Ring in May, where she won the Women’s World Championship from none other than “The Man” Becky Lynch. She was also embroiled in one of the top storylines on Monday Night Raw, igniting a love triangle between Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley. It appears Morgan managed to charm “Daddy” Dom away from “Mami” Ripley, with Mysterio turning on Ripley to help Morgan win at SummerSlam 2024. Her feud with Ripley continued through the rest of the year, and it climaxed at the WWE Raw on Netflix premiere, with Ripley finally beating Morgan, getting payback against both the former champion and Mysterio.
Morgan set herself apart as the top heel of the women’s division in 2024. Her heel work only elevated Ripley, who turned face and sought revenge against Morgan, Mysterio, and The Judgment Day. Morgan is living proof that hard work pays off, and after years of hustling and grinding, she cemented herself in the history books with her feuds with Lynch and Ripley last year. Her storyline with Mysterio and Ripley became must-see TV, and she perfectly played her role as the dastardly bad guy. Fans of Liv Morgan were not surprised by her incredible work ethic, but Morgan truly set herself apart from many other performers in WWE last year.
