Well it turns out the best source of information on a biopic about The Beatles and who’s playing Ringo Starr, is Ringo Starr. The drummer for The Beatles has confirmed that Barry Keoghan is playing him in the upcoming movies from Director Sam Mendes.

Ringo confirmed the news to Entertainment Tonight with this quote.

“I think it’s great. I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.”

The plan for Sam Mendes is to do four separate biopics about each member of The Beatles: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Each movie will be theatrically released by Sony Pictures. As of right now, there’s no deals that have been made with anyone for the cast, so take Ringo’s word with a bit of skepticism.

The other rumored cast members include Paul Mescal and Joseph Quinn. Musical biopics are the rage right now after the success of movies like Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocket Man. There’s also the upcoming movie Michael about Michael Jackson that’s anticipated to dominate the box office for Lionsgate.

Barry Keoghan is one of the biggest rising stars in Hollywood right now. He’s had roles in films like The Banshees of Insherin, Saltburn, The Batman, and Dunkirk. His upcoming schedule includes Netflix’s Peaky Blinders movie. We’ll have to see how this all turns out with The Beatles biopics and when they’ll get into production. The films currently don’t have a release window.
