It seems like we’re in the era of the prestige director ‘mystery movie” between Christopher Nolan, Steven Spielberg, and now J.J. Abrams, we have little information on their current projects. We do, however know that Sex Education actress Emma Mackey is joining the cast of Abrams’ latest movie. She appeared previously in Barbie as Barbie and will now join Jenna Ortega and Glen Powell in what can only be described as a trifecta of leads. Abrams wrote the script for the film, which is completely under wraps for the time being. His company, Bad Robot is producing the film.

Powell signed on for the project in May and now they’ve found their three leads. The film starts filming early next year. Jenna Ortega is also on the call sheet. So it looks like they’re putting together three of the most popular and in-demand actors in Hollywood for one film. Abrams will also direct the film.

This new movie from J.J. Abrams is shrouded in mystery for now, but this is still exciting news. Emma Mackey is one of highest rising and hottest stars in Hollywood at the moment. She’s been on a rising trajectory since her turn on Sex Education on Netflix. She’s also starred in Death on the Nile and Emily, a re-imagining of the life of Emily Bronte that’s earned her award nominations. She can more than hold her own alongside Ortega and Powell, who are basically destined to star alongside one another at this point. They’ve both been in so many high-profile and successful projects. It has to be a casting director and producer’s dream to have all three talents in one picture.
