DC Studios and James Gunn have just announced a new animated project called Dynamic Duo. The film is a joint project between DC Studios and WBPA. It comes from a script written by Matthew Aldritch. Arthur Mintz will direct. The story follows the early days of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, who call themselves the Dynamic Duo. Here’s a synopsis.
“They’re orphan thieves, best friends who share dreams of a better life, but their friendship will be tested by competing visions of a future out of which will come a new Dynamic Duo…”
Matt Reeves is producing but it won’t be connected to his version of The Batman or The Penguin. Swaybox uses a technology called “Momo Animation” which is a combination of CGI, practical stop-motion, and live-action real-time performance. This combines together for a breathtaking , expressive, style.
Here’s what Reeves had to say about the project.
“I have wanted to make a film with Arthur and Swaybox for many years, and for that film to be Dynamic Duo, an incredibly special and unique Batman and Robin story for families, is a dream.”
It’s been a busy time for DC Studios recently with news about Lanterns and other projects coming up. This is just another bit of world-building for the newly minted branch of DC.
