The upcoming tentpole comic book film, Supergirl, from DC Studios is on the way to shooting. According to Deadline, they’ve landed Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain. Craig Gillespie is directing the new film in phase one of DC’s Gods and Monsters. It should start filming in Q4 of 2024. Milly Alcock of House of the Dragon is playing Supergirl, but should appear in another DC feature before this film comes out, which is likely their upcoming Superman film.
The film is based on the Tom King 2022 comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Ana Nogueira wrote the screenplay that adapts that comic book. James Gunn and Peter Safran are producing the film for DC Studios.
Schoenaerts will play Krem of the Yellow Hill. He kills a young alien girl’s father, which draws Supergirl into the conflict. The actor recently starred in Rust and Bone and The Regime. He’s also been in Amsterdam, Red Sparrow, The Danish Girl, A Bigger Splash, and The Old Guard.
This is a developing story, and we’ll keep you updated as we get more news.
