Halloween has been a bit dormant since Halloween Ends brought the “end” to the series. Since then, there’s been a battle for the film and television rights to the series, and now this news from IGN. According to them, there are not one, but two Halloween video games currently in development from Boss Team Games. They’re also reporting that John Carpenter is “intimately involved” with at least one of the games.

Here’s what John Carpenter had to say.

“As a huge gamer myself, I’m thrilled to help bring Michael Myers to life again in this game, and my hope is to scare you silly,”

According to the report the games will allow players to “relive moments from the film and play as classic characterse from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time.” The games are being developed in association with Compass International Pictures and Further Front, using the Unreal Engine 5.

There are no plot details or gameplay details, but judging on Boss Team Games’ previous game, and the current horror game landscape, one can assume that it’ll be similar to games like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Evil Dead where players take sides of either the killer or a group of survivors. Here’s what Boss Team Games CEO Steve Harris had to say.

“Everyone at Boss Team Games are huge fans of horror and Halloween obviously holds a special place in the hearts of all horror fans. Getting to work with iconic characters like Michael Myers and build on John Carpenter’s original vision is literally a dream come true. Everyone at Boss Team is thrilled and honored to be working with Malek Akkad and John Carpenter to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience that fans of the movie and video games will love.”

Neither project has a release date or any other details currently.

As for the history of Michael Myers and video games, there really isn’t any. There’s the Halloween game on Atari 2600, which is the only mainline game. You can play at Michael Myers in Dead By Daylight, but outside of that, Michael has been out of the limelight in gaming.
