Neon plans to kick off 2025 with some spooks and scares. The studio just debuted a first teaser for the upcoming horror thriller Presence. The logline for the feature simply states, “A family moves into a suburban home and becomes convinced they’re not alone.”
Check out the teaser below.
The film comes from director Steven Soderbergh. The teaser opens on a list of the filmmaker’s wide-ranging credits, including Sex, Lies and Videotape, Erin Brockovich, Ocean’s Eleven, Magic Mike, and Contagion. It then pans into a suburban home before abruptly cutting to black.
So, this is arguably more of a title announcement than a real teaser. But here’s what we do know: Soderbergh will direct the screenplay for Presence written by David Koepp. Koepp’s credits include the original Mission: Impossible and Jurassic Park films, as well as Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, Panic Room, and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
We also know the film will star Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan, Callina Liang, Eddy Maday, West Mulholland, and Julia Fox.
Presence was also named an official selection at both TIFF and Sundance film festivals.
The film will officially release in select theaters January 17, 2025. Until then, check back to THS for more updates (and hopefully, a slightly more revealing teaser).
