Kerry Washington Adds To Wake Up Dead Man Cast
The mystery of Wake Up Dead Man‘s cast keeps unraveling. Kerry Washington has officially joined the cast of the latest Knives Out Mystery. Deadline was the first to report the news.
She’s joining new cast members Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny and Andrew Scott. They’ll all be flanked by Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc. Rian Johnson is also back to write and direct the film and will also produce through his company T-Street with producing partner Ram Bergman.
Wake Up Dead Man is slated to start production very soon and is slotted in for a 2025 release on Netflix. There are no plot details but Johnson and Daniel Craig have teased that it’s “Blanc’s most dangerous cast yet.”
Here’s what Johnson had to say about the new film on social media.
“I love everything about whodunits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”
The Details Of Wake Up Dead Man
The first film, Knives Out, grossed an impressive $312 million against a $40 million budget. Netflix bought the rights to the series for $450 million and gave us 2022’s Glass Onion. That film was the first Netflix movie to ever play in the US’s three biggest theater chains, AMC, Regal, and Cinemark. It grossed over $15 million in a limited, one-week-only run. There is no word on if Netflix will put this third film into theaters.
Each film in the series has only had one constant with Daniel Craig as the enigmatic Benoit Blanc.
Kerry Washington is about as well-known as it gets with actresses these days. She’s been in everything from Psych to Django Unchained. She’s an Emmy-award-winning actress for Scandal. She can next be seen in Six Triple Eight from Tyler Perry and the Lionsgate film Shadow Force.
