It’s been a bit since Steven Spielberg has hopped back in the director’s chair. His last film bared all about his own soul and making movies with The Fabelmans, and now it looks like he’s taking to the skies. According to a new report from Variety, Spielberg will “likely make his next project a UFO films based on his own original idea.” The script is set to be written by David Koepp, who wrote the original screenplay for Jurassic Park.
It marks a return for working together between the two, and Koepp is also returning to write the script for the upcoming Jurassic World film from Universal. Spielberg has made plenty of films about the world of UFOs and the unknown, including Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T.. He also did the absolutely terrifying adaptation of War of the Worlds in 2005.
He’s also produced plenty of films about ETs, space, and more, so we all should be in for a treat whenever the film comes into our cinemas. His company Amblin recently produced the Netflix docuseries Encounters, last year. That series explored the true stories of human contact with otherworldly phenomena and beings.
This is a developing story and we’ll keep you updated as we get more information on Steven Spielberg and his new movie.
