THS got the opportunity to sit down with The Newton Brothers, the composers for X-Men ’97. Together, they’ve made music for tons of movies and TV shows. They were tasked with picking up where X-Men: The Animated Series left off, including the theme song. We all know the iconic X-Men: The Animated Series theme song. Right off the bat, they knew they couldn’t mess with that too much. You can check out their answers about it in the interview below.

Andy and Taylor Newton have done music for Netflix, Disney, horror movies, and more. They’re incredibly accomplished composers that really give X-Men ’97 a feel that’s familiar, yet different. That whole vibe of the show, giving us an extension of the original series, is helped along by their excellent tracks. They talked all about how they got to the series, what some of their favorite tracks are, and even teased a bit of what’s to come. Although, they couldn’t talk much about the future.

X-Men ’97 follows up on the absolutely smashing X-Men: The Animated Series. It airs on Disney+ and they’re up to episode four of the first season. Check out our review of the first three episodes here. Here’s what we had to say about the show.

For fans of the original series, this is a dream. For people who have never watched X-Men: The Animated Series, this is a fantastic place to jump in on. If this is the quality that we’re getting from the rest of Marvel Animation, we’re really in for a treat. X-Men ’97 is a perfect blend of nostalgia while adding enough new to make the series still relevant.

So, what do you think of X-Men ’97? Have you been watching the show so far? Do you like the music from the series?
