After a pay dispute where Neve Campbell was disrespected by Spyglass Media, she is now returning for the seventh installment to the slasher franchise. In addition, Kevin Williamson, the writer of Scream 1-4 will direct Scream 7. Neve Campbell announced the news in an Instagram post.
“Sidney Prescott is coming back!!!! It’s always been such a blast and an honor to get to play Sidney in the Scream movies. My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me, has never waned. I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”
Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, the stars of Scream (2022) and Scream VI, will not return for this next movie. Jenna Ortega has a busy schedule and couldn’t make the commitment to the movie, while Melissa Barrera was fired from the role for her comments on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
This is a developing story, we’ll keep you updated as we get more news.
