If you love slow burn creepy, you’ll want to check out the first teaser for Cuckoo. The upcoming horror thriller from NEON dropped a sneak peek today.
Check out the clip below.
Okay, so this one takes the term “teaser” to heart. We’re not learning a lot about the movie from this alone, but hey, like I said, the creepy vibes are definitely present. (“The adolescent needs to be trained.” Um, yikes.)
So, to add a little clarity to Cuckoo, here’s the full synopsis for the film from NEON:
Reluctantly, 17-year-old Gretchen leaves her American home to live with her father, who has just moved into a resort in the German Alps with his new family. Arriving at their future residence, they are greeted by Mr. König, her father’s boss, who takes an inexplicable interest in Gretchen’s mute half-sister Alma. Something doesn’t seem right in this tranquil vacation paradise. Gretchen is plagued by strange noises and bloody visions until she discovers a shocking secret that also concerns her own family.
The film, shot on 35 mm, comes from German director Tilman Singer (LUZ). It stars Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer, who recently appeared in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The film also stars Dan Stevens and Jessica Henwick.
Cuckoo will hit the Berlin Film Festival next week. It will make its North American premiere in March at SXSW. Eventually, the rest of us will get to see the movie when it hits theaters May 3.
