A jury in New York has found actor Jonathan Majors guilty of assault in the third degree and guilty of harassment.

The six-person jury reached a verdict after nearly four hours of deliberation across three days. Jonathan Majors has been embroiled in the assault and harassment charges from an incident that stemmed between him and a former partner earlier this year in March. He was found not guilty of one of the counts in assault in the third degree and not guilty of aggravated harassment in the second degree.

The trial comes from a March 25th incident between Majors and his partner at the time, Grace Jabbari. Majors called 911 after he found her unconscious in his apartment. Through an investigation, and other video footage, Majors had charges brought against him. Police arrested him after finding apparent injuries on Jabbari, including a laceration behind her ear and a bruised and fractured finger.

Jabbari testified that the incident happened after she saw Majors texting someone and the message “Oh how I wish to be kissing you.”

The first three charges are misdemeanor offenses and related to incidents in the car after Jabbari grabbed Majors’ phone. The fourth charge of harassment, which is a violation, relates to an allegation that Majors threw Jabbari back into the car as she tried to exit. This action was captured on surveillance video, whereas the other incidents were not.

The charges were brought by the state of New York, as opposed to Jabbari herself. That means it was a criminal trial, and the burden of proof was higher than that of a civil trial. The jury had to find proof of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt on each charge.

Where Does Majors Go From Here?

2023 was shaping up to be the biggest year in his young career. He had multiple high-profile films out including Creed III, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Loki season two release. It’s unknown what Marvel Studios is doing with him going forward. His role as Kang the Conqueror was set to be the main villain for this current phase of movies.
