Huge news out of the Whoniverse: the entire classic run of Doctor Who is now officially streaming for free on Tubi.
The ad-supported streaming platform will host over 600 episodes of the classic sci-fi series. Fans can watch episodes on-demand, as well as on a dedicated FAST channel. (And if 600 episodes sounds a bit overwhelming, don’t worry. Tubi also created a dedicated “New to Who” collection to serve as an entry point for new viewers.)
Doctor Who first premiered back in 1963, and ran for a whopping 26 seasons, ending in 1989. (The show later launched its ongoing modern revival in 2005.) Tubi will let fans stream the episodes led by the show’s first seven Doctors, including William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy.
In addition to hosting Classic Doctor Who, Tubi will also bring Classic Doctor Who: The Animated Lost Stories to streaming. These are episodes of the series from early in the show’s run which no longer exist in their original filmed format; in recent years, BBC have worked to animate and re-release some of these missing episodes.
Tubi is the most-watched free streaming platform in the US, with a library of over 200,000 movies and TV episodes.
Doctor Who celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, with David Tennant returning to the TARDIS for three anniversary specials. In the US, these specials and the upcoming 14th season of Doctor Who’s revival will stream on Disney+.
