Grammy–winning singer/songwriter Olivia Rodrigo just revealed a new music video, and this one ties into the weekend box office. “Can’t Catch Me Now” is part of the official soundtrack for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.
In the music video, you’ll spot Rodrigo herself, as well as clips from the new Hunger Games film featuring Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler. Check out the full music video for “Can’t Catch Me Now” below.
“Can’t Catch Me Now” marks Rodrigo’s first official contribution to a film soundtrack. (Although her music has been used in films, this track is the first she created specifically for a movie.) Rodrigo wrote the song with producer Daniel Nigro, with whom she collaborated on her most recent album, GUTS.
Award-winning director Leonn Wards directed the music video. The song will release on the official Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes soundtrack on November 17.
Set 64 years before Katniss Everdeen volunteered as tribute, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes takes fans back to the 10th annual Hunger Games. The story introduces a young Coriolanus (Blyth), who is the last hope for his failing lineage, the once-proud Snow family fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. Snow is reluctantly assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Zegler), a tribute from the impoverished District 12. But after Lucy Gray’s charm captivates the audience of Panem, Snow sees an opportunity to shift their fates.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes premieres in theaters November 17. You can pre-order movie tickets from Fandango, as well as pre-order the soundtrack online now.
