The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike is starting to take its toll on the studio’s schedules. They need to do reshoots and other promotions for projects, but their own greed is making that impossible. Disney announced on Friday that it has delayed Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler by a year from March 22, 2024 to March 21, 2025. That film was expected to be one of their biggest for 2024. Pixar’s Elio is also moving from March 1, 2024 to June 13, 2025.
Disney has also removed Jonathan Majors‘ Magazine Dreams from their calendar from its December 2023 release. That move was reportedly unrelated to the strikes and had more to do with the legal trouble that Majors is in currently.
The SAG-AFTRA strike has reached a point of no return for the studios in regard to their 2024 schedules. They’ve been negotiating, but if a deal can’t be made by early November, the dominoes will start falling. They’ve already started moving films like Deadpool 3 from their original release dates.
Disney isn’t the only one moving pictures though. Paramount moved its tentpole Mission: Impossible 8 from 2024 to 2025 earlier this week.
In addition to the delay, Disney has released the first still from the upcoming film.
Remember, you can’t make movies without actors, so pay them their fair share.
