Paramount Pictures has announced that Smile 2 is heading to theaters on October 18th, 2024. The sequel to the smash-hit horror flick from last year is an adaptation of the short film Laura Hasn’t Slept from Parker Finn. Finn signed a first-look, multi-year deal with Paramount Pictures after the release of Smile.
That film was originally set to release streaming on Paramount+, but early screening reactions gave it a boost to the theaters. Once it hit, it was one of the highest-grossing horror films of 2022. Paramount’s CEO Brian Robbins had this to say.
“Smile’s breakthrough success is a testament to Parker’s unique and fresh filmmaking, and we are thrilled that he will make Paramount his home,”
Smile ended up making $217 million at the box office in 2022, continuing the dominance of the horror genre. It was one of four horror movies to take the number one spot at the box office on the year. The trend of horror movies continuing to smash box office numbers has continued into 2023, with plenty of horror movies making money based on tiny budgets.
That’s all we know about Smile 2 for now. We’ll update you as we get more news about the sequel.
