A new period drama is headed to Apple TV+. The Buccaneers draws inspiration from Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel. Today, Apple TV+ revealed first details and photos for the series.
Here’s the synopsis of The Buccaneers:
Girls with money, men with power. New money, old secrets. A group of fun-loving young American girls explode into the tightly corseted London season of the 1870s. This kicks off an Anglo-American culture clash, as the land of the stiff upper lip is infiltrated by a refreshing disregard for centuries of tradition. Sent to secure husbands and titles, the buccaneers’ hearts are set on much more than that, and saying “I do” is just the beginning…
The series stars Kristine Frøseth as Nan St. George, Alisha Boe as Conchita Closson, Josie Totah as Mabel Elmsworth, Aubri Ibrag as Lizzy Elmsworth, Imogen Waterhouse as Jinny St. George, and Mia Threapleton as Honoria Marable. SAG Award winner Christina Hendricks also stars as Mrs. St. George, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Josh Dylan, Guy Remmers, Matthew Broome, and Barney Fishwick.
The Buccaneers comes from an all-female creative team, led by series creator Katherine Jakeways. BAFTA award winner Susanna White directs. Jakeways and White both executive produce the series, alongside BAFTA nominee Beth Willis.
The Buccaneers premieres on Apple TV+ Wednesday, November 8. New episodes will then air weekly on Wednesdays, until the finale on December 13.
