It’s been a tumultuous couple of years for DC Films as of late. Now, it appears that chaos has spread to the new regime with Wonder Woman 3. In a couple of recent interviews Gal Gadot has said that James Gunn and Peter Safran have both told her that they are working on a third Wonder Woman film with her as the star. Now, according to multiple sources (two of which are claiming it as exclusive in Collider and Variety), that is not the case.
Not only is a third Wonder Woman movie not in active development, they currently don’t have plans for any project with the character except for the Paradise Lost prequel series for Max. Here’s what Gadot had to say to Flaunt.
“I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran,” Gadot said, “and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”
Variety is reporting that nothing was promised to Gadot nor was there any definitive discussions of her continuing with the upcoming DC Universe. Gunn and Safran gave a huge presentation at the beginning of the year discussing the plan that they have for DC Films in the coming years.
Gal Gadot started off as Wonder Woman in Batman Vs. Superman and that carried all the way through to The Flash, where she made a cameo appearance. News of Wonder Woman 3 with director Patty Jenkins came out, but that crumbled after Warner leadership passed on the treatment that she wrote for the sequel.
Paradise Lost is the only Wonder Woman project in development at DC at the moment. Safran and DC described the show as “Game of Thrones-ish” and set on the island of Themyscira before the birth of Wonder Woman.
As of right now, the only sure things in the DC universe are what James Gunn and Peter Safran have announced. You can read more about that schedule below.
