Now as many of you know I hate giving spoilers in my reviews so I will do my best not to ruin this 8-episode series for you. Skull Island wastes no time and starts out with the action right in the beginning. A group of explorers finds Annie floating in the ocean once she is saved it didn’t take long for some events to escalate and the group of explorers find themselves shipwrecked on Skull Island.

Once on the island, they learn very quickly that they are not the only ones there. Not only is there another team of explorers but the island is full of monsters waiting to make any of them their next meal. Land, air, and sea no one is safe including Kong himself.

The Creative Team And Cast

Brian Duffield and Jacob Robinson do an amazing job bringing this animated story to life. There was a great mixture of action and downtime that really helped tell this latest story of Kong. Not only was the storytelling good Duffield and Robinson did an amazing job putting the voice cast together.

Nicolas Cantu, Mae Whitman, Darren Barnet, Benjamin Bratt, and Betty Gilpin did a great job bringing the characters to life. This all-star team of voice actors not only brought you closer to each character but they also made you feel what each character felt in the moment. From heart-pounding action to emotional moments, you hung in there every second.

On top of all this, the animation was amazing as well. The animation was simple but also very detailed. It also had an anime look to it. The colors flowed smoothing throughout each episode. From the beaches to the deep interior of Skull Island, the details also brought this series to life without any distractions.

My Final Thoughts

Overall this series was a chest-pumping good time. The storyline was good and the animation looked great. The voice cast did an amazing job together and I hope we see most of them in another season. Now was everything perfect in this series? No, but honestly it was pretty close. There were a few slow parts in this series. Yes, they were needed to tell some of the story and backstory but some kind of dragged on for a bit. But if you are a Kong fan this series is a must-watch for you. I had no issues binge-watching the series.
