Martyn Ford, Desmond Chiam, Ana Thu Nguyen and Damon Herriman have signed up to appear in New Line’s sequel to 2021’s Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2. They will join other recently announced newcomers to the sequel, Karl Urban Tati Gabrielle and Adeline Rudolph as Kitana.

New Line are said to currently be close to finalizing deals to bring back cast members from the first film; including Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade and Josh Lawson as Kano.

Tadanobu Asano will also be returning as Lord Raiden. Alongside Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion, and Max Huang as Kung Lao.

The Boys actor Karl Urban is set to play fan-favorite Johnny Cage. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Adeline Rudolph is set to play Princess Kitana; and Uncharted and You actress Tati Gabrielle will take on the role of Jade; the friend and bodyguard of Princess Kitana.

Written by Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight) with Simon McQuoid directing, the sequel will continue the story of a group of fighters, highly versed in the ways of martial arts, who defend our reality, which is known as Earthrealm, against the Outworld.

Martyn Ford, who recently appeared in F9: The Fast Saga as well as The Sandman, will play Shao Kahn. Australian actor Desmond Chiam, who played Dovich on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will appear in the sequel as King Jerrod. Joyride star Ana Thu Nguyen will play the role of Sindel and Once Upon a Time In Hollywood’s Damon Herriman will be Quan Chi.

The previous film, which was also directed by Simon McQuoid, was a new adaptation of the popular video game franchise. It offered a grittier and more violent take on the source material than the 1990s movies. When Mortal Kombat was released in April 2021, it became an early pandemic hit. Ranking as one of the top titles on HBO Max since the streaming service debuted.
