Bupkis is a semi-autobiographical comedy series on PeacockTV created by and starring Pete Davidson (Bodies, Bodies, Bodies). The show follows Davidson as a fictionalized version of himself as he attempts to work through unique family dynamics and the complexities of fame to form meaningful relationships.

BUPKIS’ COMEDY WON’T BE FOR EVERYONE

Pete Davidson gives a fantastic performance in Bupkis. He captures the insecurity and self-doubt of a man who is trying to find his place in the world. That said, his comedy isn’t for everybody. In episode one of Bupkis, he lets you know exactly what you’re going to be watching.

If you have seen any of Davidson’s works none of this will be a surprise. However, when Davidson is watching VR Porn and ejaculates on his mother. This moment sets the comedy tone immediately. I found the series to have really sharp and witty writing. Davidson and his writers manage to deliver plenty of laughs along with a good balance of cringe.

INCREDIBLE SUPPORTING CAST

Bupkis has an incredible supporting cast to go along with Davison from Emmy Award-winning actress Edie Falco as his mother. Academy Award Winner Joe Pesci plays his grandfather who takes on the role of Davidsons Jiminy Cricket.

Adding to the personal side of things there are a ton of cameos and guest stars of Davidsons best friends in the industry that to some may seem self-indulgent. However, to me I loved it. I appreciate that Bupkis is willing to tackle difficult subjects such as mental health, addiction, and relationships through Davidsons’ real-life relationships. Personally, I think it adds to the fun of the story.

Overall, Bupkis is a funny and well-made show that is worth watching. If you are a fan of Pete Davidson or semi-autobiographical comedies, then you will definitely enjoy this show.

Bupkis is now streaming on Peacock.
