Love and Death is a new Max Original limited series starring Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision) and Jesse Plemons (The Power of the Dog). The drama is written by David E. Kelley (The Undoing) and directed by Lesli Linka Glatter (Now and Then).

The series is based on the true story of Wylie, Texas housewife Candy Montgomery, who was accused of the brutal axe murder of her friend Betty Gore in 1980. I mean, who doesn’t love a fancy version of Snapped?

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS

This riveting drama, written by David E. Kelley and directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, and tells the true story of Candy and Pat Montgomery, as well as Betty and Allan Gore – two churchgoing couples enjoying their smalltown Texas life… until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe.

Starring in the mini-series is Elizabeth Olsen (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), Jesse Plemons (Black Mirror), Lily Rabe (The Tender Bar), Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Tom Pelphrey (Ozark), and Keir Gilchrist (Atypical), as well as Elizabeth Marvel (Manifest).

The LOVE & DEATH mini-series will consist of 7 episodes. On Thursday, April 27, 2023, the series will debut with three episodes. Following the premiere, the series will release one episode weekly through May 25, 2023.

The show is also an official selection of the 2023 SXSW Film & TV Festival.
