The Last Of Us was one of the most anticipated debuts in the history of HBO. The series premiere didn’t disappoint. It drew over 4.7 million viewers across HBO Max and linear platforms on Sunday night. This is the second-highest debut in the streaming era for HBO Max, falling just behind House of the Dragon. It was nearly double the viewership for the season two debut of Euphoria, which averaged nearly 19.5 million viewers per episode.
The Last Of Us also hit worldwide and US #1 trends on Twitter. Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO & HBO Max Content, had this to say.
We are thrilled to see fans of the series and game alike experience this iconic story in a new way, and we extend our gratitude to them for helping to make it a success. Congratulations to Craig, Neil and the brilliant cast and crew who worked tirelessly to bring this show to life. We look forward to fans around the world enjoying the rest of the season.
