Wes Ball‘s newest sequel, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is getting a new addition. According to Deadline, William H. Macy is joining the movie. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes starts a new chapter in the Apes saga. It picks up many years after 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes. Ball is directing a screenplay from Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison.
It’s unknown at this time what role William H. Macy will play in the film.
The Planet of the Apes franchise is a lucrative one for 20th Century Studios earning over $1.7 billion at the worldwide box office. The first film released in 1968 has gone through many sequels and remakes. The trilogy of films starting in 2011 kicked off a massive resurgence for the franchise.
Macy just wrapped up work on Shameless, which ran for 11 seasons on Showtime.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set for release on May 24th, 2024. It also stars Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Peter Macon, Eka Darville, Kevin Durand, Travis Jeffery, Neil Sandilands, and Sara Wiseman.
