It appears that we have some casting news for Agatha: Coven of Chaos for you all today. It seems that this spinoff to WandaVision has snagged Patti LuPone as part of its ensemble cast. What role will she be playing in, you might ask? Well, let’s find out below, shall we?

No trailer yet. Still just a logo for now, I’m afraid.

Deadline has just revealed that Patti LuPone is joining the cast of Agatha: Coven of Chaos. LuPone will be joining an ensemble cast that not only contains Kathryn Hahn as the titular Agatha Harkness and Emma Caulfield Ford returning to play Dottie, but also includes Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, and Sasheer Zamata. The lattermost cast unfortunately are in unnamed roles for now.

But now let’s get back to Patti LuPone and her role in Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Which, unfortunately, is also an unnamed role. Deadline heard a rumor that LuPone will be playing an as-of-yet-unnamed witch, but that’s still just a rumor for now. Take it with a grain of salt until we hear anything official from Marvel Studios otherwise. Who, for the record, are declining comment to Deadline‘s rumor. It seems we’ll have to wait for this spinoff series to make its debut before we can find out who LuPone will be playing.

Unfortunately, that won’t be for a long while yet. Agatha: Coven of Chaos won’t make its Disney+ debut until sometime in late 2023. So we have basically a year of waiting until we get to see this spinoff, as of this writing. In the meantime though, let’s take a look at Patti LuPone herself.

Patti Anne LuPone is an American actress, and a singer on top of that. Apparently, she’s best known for musical theater, with her Broadway debut being in Three Sisters in 1973. LuPone then went on to play in numerous other Broadway productions in the ensuing decades, with her most recent work being in the 2021 revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Company, for which she won a Tony award.

Her television appearances first began with the drama series Life Goes On from 1989 to 1993. After that, it seems like Patti LuPone had a thing for horror, appearing in American Horror Story and Penny Dreadful. However, she did do voicework in an animated series. Steven Universe fans might recognize her voice as that of Yellow Diamond’s.

As for film roles: Patti LuPone apparently made her film debut in King of the Gypsies in 1978, but no one know who she played because she was completely uncredited in that film. So technically, her first credited film role would be in 1941 (1979) as Lydia Hedberg. LuPone’s most recent film role is in The School for Good and Evil as Mrs. Deauville.

With that kind of a filmography, it’s easy to imagine Patti LuPone playing some kind of witch in a horror show. Perfect for Agatha: Coven of Chaos, really. Since, as a spinoff to WandaVision, I’d imagine we’ll see a good deal of horror in it.
