It looks like DC really wants to build up hype for their upcoming sequel to the 2019 Shazam! film: Shazam! Fury of the Gods. You know, especially since their parent company has been making some…questionable business decisions lately? How else you do explain DC releasing this new poster for this superhero sequel film? Don’t believe me? Then check out the scooter-filled poster for yourself below:

CHUCK BARTOWSKI, IS THAT YOU?! WHEN DID YOU BECOME A SUPERHERO?!

"Shazam! Fury of the Gods" poster.
Wait, is he riding a scooter?!

New Line Cinema (owned by Warner Bros. Discovery) is proud to reveal that new official poster for Shazam! Fury of the Gods above. Just in case your browser won’t show the poster for some reason: said poster shows the titular Shazam apparently rolling by at high speeds…on what looks like a scooter. It’s hard to tell if it’s a kick scooter or if it’s one of the motorized models, but that’s not really an important point at the moment. The real point is: what kind of superhero rides a scooter?! And well, apparently, this one does. All while making a shaka sign and having the most constipated look on his face to boot. Clearly, you can tell that comedy forms a central theme for this superhero film. Just how much of it will be comedy remains to be seen. At least, until we actually see it in theaters.

Unfortunately, that will take a while. As you can see at the bottom of the poster, Shazam! Fury of the Gods will make its theatrical debut on March 17, 2023. It will be over 4 months before we get to see it in theaters, so we have plenty of time to wait. And of course, get hyped over it. Unfortunately, it’s so early that we can’t even pre-purchase tickets for the film yet. Check back in to THS later to find out when you can do so when we do.

SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS: OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS

I swear, no matter how many times Zachary Levi calls himself Shazam, I’m always going to hear Chuck Bartowski.

Want to know what Shazam! Fury of the Gods is about? Well, a bit more than what you see in the trailer above on YouTube? Well, DC has a short but official synopsis for the film for us today. You can check it out below:

From New Line Cinema comes “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” which continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word “SHAZAM!,” is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.
