Mick Mars has been a constant presence in Motley Crue since the day they started over 41 years ago. He’s been with the band through ups and downs and recently was on tour with them for the wildly successful Stadium Tour with Def Leppard, Joan Jett, and Poison. Now, though, he’s been forced to retire due to complications with A.S., the disease he’s been living with since he was a teen. Ankylosing Spondylitis as its called affects the spine and back, and the degenerative disease is incredibly painful.

As for a replacement guitarist, none have been named, but John 5 of Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson has been rumored as the replacement. Motley Crue originally had their farewell tour that ended in 2015, but money came calling and the band got back together for The Stadium Tour.

The Stadium Tour becomes The World Tour in 2023 when Motley Crue and Def Leppard go on tour around the world including Latin America and Europe through July 2023.

Mick Mars will continue to be a member of Motley Crue through songwriting and other ways, he just won’t be touring with the band any longer.
