Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness and Loki writer, Michael Waldron, has been chosen as the writer for the biggest Marvel event movie yet, Avengers: Secret Wars. Deadline is reporting that he’s been chosen to write the film. Secret Wars is one of the biggest events in the history of comics. It’s unknown how much of the movie will adapt that legendary event series. Deadline’s sources say that meetings for the position took place last month with a number of writers meeting. Waldron was said to be the front-runner all along.

His work on Loki and Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness probably put him ahead of a lot of other writers. Those movies dealt with multiversal travel and the upcoming villain of these next couple of phases, Kang The Conqueror, was introduced in Loki. Marvel has had plenty of news about creatives on the upcoming slate of films with Avengers: Kang Dynasty with Jeff Loveness and Destin Daniel Cretton on board to write and direct Avengers: Kang Dynasty. This is the first news about Avengers: Secret Wars since Marvel did their panel at SDCC and revealed the full slate of films coming up.

No plot details are known about the film. It’ll release in theaters on November 8th, 2025.
