The Marvel / DC presence at San Diego Comic Con this year wasn’t exactly equal. Following a Hall H panel that only touched on Black Adam and Shazam 2, many fans anticipated DC was preparing for bigger announcements at their own fan event, DC FanDome. But it looks like that won’t be the case.
DC will not host a FanDome event in 2022.
Apparently, Warner Bros. Discovery wants to focus on returning to in-person events.
“With the return of in person events, Warner Bros. Discovery is excited to be able to engage with our fans live at numerous comic-cons around the world and will not be scheduling DC FanDome for 2022,” reads a statement from Warner Bros. Discovery.
The first DC FanDome event took place in 2020. The eight-hour livestream event included panels, special guests, and first-looks for upcoming DC projects. Notable releases from events past included trailers for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
The future of the DCEU has felt more up in the air than usual with the Warner Bros. – Discovery merger shaking up content left and right. The studio recently canceled Leslie Grace’s Batgirl feature and dropped Bruce Timm’s animated Batman: Caped Crusader series. However, Harley Quinn just earned a fourth season renewal.
So, what do you think about DC not moving forward with FanDome this year? Let us know in the comments below.
