It hasn’t quite been 300 years since the Sanderson Sisters last took Salem (and our screens) by storm. But for fans who have been itching for more Hocus Pocus since the 90s, your long wait is almost over.
Hocus Pocus 2 officially premieres on Disney+ one month from today on September 30. (It will help kick off the platform’s “Hallowstream” celebration.) But you don’t have to wait a full month for new Hocus Pocus content. Disney unveiled a new poster for the film today. Check it out below.
The image features Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters, Winifred, Sarah, and Mary. The witches stand under a full moon and the tagline, “Back and more glorious than ever.”
Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:
It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve. “Hocus Pocus 2” also stars Sam Richardson (“The Tomorrow War”), Doug Jones (“The Shape of Water”), Whitney Peak (“Gossip Girl”), Belissa Escobedo (“American Horror Stories”), Lilia Buckingham (“Dirt”), Froy Gutierrez (“Teen Wolf”), with Tony Hale (“Veep”) and Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”).
The film comes from director Anne Fletcher (Dumplin’, The Proposal).
In addition to the three Sandersons, the sequel flick will also feature the return of Doug Jones as beloved zombie Billy Butcherson. But don’t expect everyone from the original Hocus Pocus to return. Fletcher recently confirmed in an interview Max, Dani, and Allison will not appear in Hocus Pocus 2.
