Disney’s upcoming series The Santa Clauses won’t just bring back Tim Allen. Another fan-favorite character from The Santa Clause will officially return: Bernard the Elf.
Actor David Krumholtz will reprise his role, Deadline reports. He first appeared in the original 1994 movie, playing the grumpy but lovable manager of Santa’s workshop.
In the upcoming Disney+ series, Scott Calvin (Allen) is on the brink of his 65th birthday. He’s suddenly starting to lose his Santa magic, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the North Pole. Realizing he can’t be Santa forever, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.
Allen and Krumholtz reunite with film actress Elizabeth Mitchell, who reprises her role as Carol Calvin/Mrs. Claus. The Santa Clauses cast also includes Elizabeth Allen-Dick as Sandra, Devin Bright as Noel, Austin Kane as Cal, Matilda Lawler as Betty, Rupali Redd as Grace, and Kal Penn as Simon Choski.
Emmy winner Jack Burditt (30 Rock, Modern Family, Frasier, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) serves as the executive producer and showrunner. Allen also executive produces, along with Kevin Hench, Richard Baker and Rick Messina, and Jason Winer and Jon Radler for Small Dog Picture Company.
Disney has not yet announced a release date for the series. But stay tuned for more updates.
