Ladies and gentlemen, Lord and Lady Ledger. Netflix’s Bridgerton spinoff just added two key cast members.
Deadline reports British actors Katie Brayben and Keir Charles will play Vivian Ledger and Lord Ledger in the upcoming series. The spinoff focuses on the rise of a young Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel). The show will also tell the stories of young Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.
Queen Charlotte was not originally a part of Julia Quinn’s novels, the basis for Netflix’s Bridgerton series. However, her inclusion in the show quickly made her a fan favorite character, inspiring the spinoff.
“Many viewers had never known the story of Queen Charlotte before Bridgerton brought her to the world, and I’m thrilled this new series will further expand her story and the world of Bridgerton,” said Netflix head of global TV Bela Bajaria when the project was first announced. “Shonda and her team are thoughtfully building out the Bridgerton universe so they can keep delivering for the fans with the same quality and style they love. And by planning and prepping all the upcoming seasons now, we also hope to keep up a pace that will keep even the most insatiable viewers totally fulfilled.”
Bridgerton executive producer Shonda Rhimes will write and serve as EP on the spinoff series. Betsy Beers and Tom Verica will also executive produce the Queen Charlotte series.
Brayben’s previous credits include A Serial Killer’s Guide to Life and appearances in Wheel of Time, Luther, and Doctor Who.
Charles appeared in Love Actually and British shows Back to Life and Green Wing, among others.
You can stream the first two seasons of Bridgerton now on Netflix.
