While Ghostface will return to terrorize teens once more in Scream 6, don’t expect to see Sidney Prescott make an appearance. Actress Neve Campbell officially confirmed she will not appear in the upcoming horror franchise flick.

Campbell’s character, Sidney Prescott, has appeared in all five of the previous Scream films. She recently revealed Paramount, Spyglass, and the creative team behind Scream 6 did try to get her to join the cast. However, Campbell declined due to the salary offered to her.

“Sadly I won’t be making the next Scream film,” Campbell said. “As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”

The slasher franchise returned for a fifth installment in January, raking in over $140 million worldwide. The film’s success quickly led to a sixth movie getting the green light.

Campbell expressed her gratitude for Scream fans and the opportunity to play such a significant role in the franchise.

“It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years,” adds Campbell.

Scream 6 will see Hayden Panettiere return as Kirby Reed. Newcomers from the most recent installment – Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding – will also reprise their roles. The film also recently cast Dermot Mulroney. Filmmakers Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett), who made the most recent film, will return, with James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick co-writing the screenplay.

Campbell currently stars in the Netflix series The Lincoln Lawyer. She was also recently announced as part of Peacock’s Twisted Metal cast, alongside Anthony Mackie.
