Celeste O’Connor is entering Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The Ghostbusters: Afterlife star will appear in the upcoming Madame Web movie.
Sony’s Madame Web will portray the origin story of the title character, a woman with powerful psychic abilities that allow her to see across the spider-world. Dakota Johnson will play Madame Web.
At this time, we don’t have any details about who O’Connor will play in the movie. They join Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney in having an undisclosed role in the Marvel feature.
Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the film, with S.J. Clarkson set to direct. The story draws on the Marvel comics by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr.
O’Connor will next appear in MGM’s A Good Person opposite Morgan Freeman and Florence Pugh. Some of their other credits include the Blumhouse horror-comedy Freaky, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and the Paramount+ series The In Between.
Madame Web is just one of the upcoming features Sony plans to release to expand its Spider-Man Universe. Other upcoming features include Kraven the Hunter and sequels to Into the Spider-Verse.
Madame Web plans to release in theaters July 7, 2023.
