It turns out A Simple Favor won’t be a one-off hit from 2018. The mystery-thriller-comedy will officially get a sequel from Lionsgate and Amazon Studios.
A Simple Favor followed Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), a single mother with a parenting vlog. She befriends Emily (Blake Lively), who’s as wealthy as she is secretive. When Emily goes missing, Stephanie takes it upon herself to investigate. But pulling on the threads of Emily’s life unravels more than she bargained for.
Original stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively are set to reprise their roles in the sequel. Also returning? Director Paul Feig.
A Simple Favor was based on the novel by Darcey Bell and adapted as a screenplay by Jessica Sharzer. Sharzer will also write the sequel.
We don’t have any plot details about the sequel film yet. But fans of the first know the movie ended with some space to transition into another film.
Kendrick recently appeared in the HBO Max series Love Life. Lively’s most recent film was The Rhythm Section.
