Who’s harder to kill – Chucky or Devon Sawa?
Okay, Chucky, probably, given the number of films about the killer doll. But Sawa’s putting up some competition. After dying twice (technically) on the first season of Syfy’s Chucky series, Entertainment Weekly reports the actor will be back for season 2.
Sawa revealed the news during an interview with EW.
“I don’t usually make these videos but I just wanted to read this email from my costar, so you can see what I go through,” explains Sawa in the clip. “It says, ‘Dear Gavin Sawa, I hope this email finds you well, I just want you to know that the only reason that you’re here is because I allowed it. Have a great season 2. Love, Chucky. P.S. Just kidding, you suck.'”
Sawa played twin brothers Logan and Lucas Wheeler in the first season of the horror series. Perhaps unsurprisingly, both ultimately met their untimely ends at the hands of Chucky. And though Sawa will return, it appears Logan and Lucas aren’t getting resurrected. The actor will reportedly play a new character in season 2.
Don Mancini, creator of Chucky and an executive producer on the series, likes casting actors in multiple roles. So, Sawa’s re-inclusion in the upcoming season makes a lot of sense. Jennifer Tilly, for instance, plays both Chucky’s girlfriend Tiffany Valentine and a version of herself in the franchise. Fiona Dourif jumped into the series with 2013’s Curse of Chucky as Nica Pierce; season 1 of the Syfy series saw her take on the role of Charles Lee Ray, a serial killer whose human form was previously played by her father, Brad Dourif (the voice of Chucky).
