A new Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers movie calls for a new theme song. Today, Disney revealed the upcoming film’s theme will come from rapper Post Malone.
The Grammy-nominated artist (and noted Disney fan) will apparently record the Chip ‘N Dale theme, according to a tweet from the film’s official social media account.
As the tweet specifies, the Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers soundtrack also features a score by Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, F9).
In Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers, Chip and Dale are living amongst cartoons and humans in modern-day Los Angeles, but their lives are quite different now. It has been decades since their successful television series was canceled, and Chip (voice of John Mulaney) has succumbed to a life of suburban domesticity as an insurance salesman. Dale (voice of Andy Samberg), meanwhile, has had CGI surgery and works the nostalgia convention circuit, desperate to relive his glory days. When a former castmate mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and take on their Rescue Rangers detective personas once again to save their friend’s life.
In addition to Mulaney and Samberg, the live-action/animation hybrid film brings in plenty of other recognizable actors. The film also stars KiKi Layne, Will Arnett, Keegan-Michael Key, Eric Bana, Flula Borg, Dennis Haysbert, Tress MacNeille, Tim Robinson, Seth Rogen, J.K. Simmons, and Chris Parnell. The film comes from writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand and director Akiva Schaffer.
Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers premieres on Disney+ May 20.
