Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion! (Once again!)
The Disney theme park ride-turned feature film is getting an all-new adaptation. And now, we finally have more details about what this new Haunted Mansion movie will look like. In celebrating Halfway to Halloween, Disney unveiled the official synopsis for the upcoming spooky feature:
In this mysterious adventure, a doctor and her 9-year-old son, looking to start a new life, move into a strangely affordable mansion in New Orleans, only to discover that the place is much more than they bargained for. Desperate for help, they contact a priest, who, in turn, enlists the aid of a widowed scientist-turned failed-paranormal expert, a French Quarter psychic, and a crotchety historian.
The film will star Rosario Dawson as the doctor who moves into the mansion, with Chase Dillon playing her young son. Rounding out the cast are LaKeith Stanfield as the paranormal expert; Owen Wilson as the priest; Tiffany Haddish as the psychic; and Danny DeVito as the historian.
The new Haunted Mansion comes from director Justin Simien (Bad Hair, Dear White People). Katie Dippold (The Heat, Ghostbusters) wrote the screenplay.
Disney previously adapted The Haunted Mansion into a feature film in 2003, starring Eddie Murphy.
Haunted Mansion will release in theaters March 10, 2023.
