HBOMax has released a couple of FIRST LOOK photos of the upcoming limit-series, The Staircase premiering sometime this Spring.
THE STAIRCASE
If you’re a true crime junkie like me you know all about The Staircase and the mysterious death of Kathleen Peterson. On December 9, 2011, Michael Peterson called 911 to report that he found his wife unconscious in their home. Peterson said he suspected that she had fallen down, “fifteen, twenty, I don’t know” stairs. Afterward, he claimed to be outside by the pool and that had come in at 2:40 am to find Kathleen at the foot of the stars. Then he said, she must have fallen down the stairs after drinking alcohol and taking Valium. Next came the “Owl Theory” in late 2009. Yes, you read that correctly.
The HBOMax limited series is based on the true story of the Michael Peterson case. The series will explore the life of Michael Peterson, his sprawling North Carolina family, and the suspicious death of his wife, Kathleen.
The series stars Colin Firth (Bridget Jones Diary) and Toni Collette (Nightmare Alley) as Michael and Kathleen Peterson. Starring alongside Firth and Collette are Michael Stuhlbarg, Juliette Binoche, Dane DeHaan, Olivia DeJonge, Rosemarie DeWitt, Tim Guinee, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sophie Turner, Vincent Vermignon, Odessa Young, and Parker Posey.
