Though its performance at the box office was not up to the usual MCU standards, Eternals may have found its second wind on Disney+. Debuting on the streaming service last week, the film racked up over 2 million household views in the first 5 days. Putting it at the top of the list as the largest MCU debut on Disney+.
‘ETERNALS’ OFF TO RECORDING SETTING START ON DISNEY+
Eternals, which hit theaters back in November 2021, was met with a mixed response from both critics and audiences. The film earned just over $400 million, which in the context of the MCU was considered a disappointment. Eternals currently sits at 47% on Rotten Tomatoes. But does fare much better when looking at the Audience score, which is 78%. That puts the film in the same range for the Audience score as Iron Man 2 and Thor.
Regardless of what scores might indicate, it appears that is not stopping fans from streaming Eternals at home now that it is on Disney+. The 2 million views earned by Eternals move it ahead of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ring’s and its 1.7 million views.

ETERNALS FEATURES AN ALL-STAR CAST
The sci-fi epic, directed by Chloe Zhao, featured an ensemble cast that starred Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Selma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Lia McHugh, Brian Terry Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, and Kit Harrington. As of now, there has been no official word from Marvel Studios as to any future plans for the characters. The ending of the first film, featuring an appearance by Harry Styles as Starfox, brother of Thanos, certainly was intended to set up a future story arc. One which hopefully fans will get to see come to fruition at some point in the MCU.
It remains to be seen whether or not this record-setting debut on Disney+ will be a factor in the future of the Eternals. But one would have to believe it will certainly be something for Marvel Studios and Disney to consider as they lay out the future of the MCU and what part the Eternals may have.
