It’s finally here! Our first trailer for the upcoming third installment of Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore. As a fellow Hufflepuff, I’m very excited! The trailer shows more secrets, more Dumbledore, and more beasts. Alright Dumbledore, keep your secrets.

The trailer shows us many new surprises. First, we get to meet Dumbledore’s brother; no, not Credence, Aberforth (Richard Coyle). Yes, that Aberforth, who we learn about in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, has a strong dislike for his brother. We also see the Room of Requirement. Remember the magical room which can convert into anything the person is needing? Need a bathroom? Boom! The Room of Requirement becomes that. This room is a central part of Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix. Seeing it once again is a great callback. The third surprise we see is Jacob (Dan Fogler), who is a muggle, gets a wand! I know right?! Dumbledore sends him the gift of his very own wand. Will he be able to use it? That is still unknown.

We see the new Grindelwald!

Also, this trailer of Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore, is the first time we see the new recast of Grindelwald. As we all know, Johnny Depp is no longer reprising his role in the film. So, now Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) will give us a new take on the dark wizard himself. From the trailer, we see that the look is very different than before. There is no blond wig or heavy pale makeup. I must admit, from this first look, I miss Depp’s interpretation. To me, he gave more of a dark wizard vibe, but with it just being the trailer I will not be quick to judge. We will wait and see how Mikkelson does with more screen time.

Reprising their roles for this film are Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, and Fiona Glascott. Their characters are Newt Scamander, Albus Dumbledore, Tina Goldstein, Jacob Kowlaski, Theseus Scamander, Eulalie Hicks, and Minerva McGonagall respectively. They will form the group standing against Grindelwald. The avengers of the Wizarding World you can say. Also reprising their roles, but on Grindelwald’s side are Ezra Miller and Alison Sudol, as Credence/Aurelius Dumbledore and Queenie Goldstein.

Given the timeline, will we meet Dumbledore’s sister Arianna? Will he be able to destroy the blood oath made by him and Grindelwald? Only time will tell. So, for now, brush up on your magical creatures and prepare. Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore will be exclusively in theaters on April 15th, 2022!
