AMC has a new type of undead coming to their streaming service. It comes in the form of vampires with the new series Firebite, set to premiere Thursday, December 16th.

Firebite is a new vampire series that takes place in the middle of the South Australian desert. It is about two indigenous people, a reckless older man named Tyson (Rob Collins) and a young woman Shanika (Shantae Barnes-Cowan), who fight to bring the last colony of vampires down. Vampires had apparently taken residence in the mines under the town. A war is coming between humanity and the undead, and those two are in the front lines.

As we can see in the trailer, the look of the show is pretty good. The king vampire looks scary and menacing while still looking dashing in a way. Also, the gore is good without being overwhelming. The storyline seems like a familiar one. A reckless, makes-his-own-law, tough man working with a younger apprentice he takes under his wing. That said apprentice looks incredibly cool standing up to not just vampires, but the men who think women shouldn’t hold boomerangs. She seems to be able to hold her against humans and undead alike.

This new revamped vampire series Firebite is brought to us by Warwick Thornton and Brendan Fletcher who serve as writers and directors. Alongside them is Tony Krawitz also directing. Starring in the show, apart from the previously mentioned Rob Collins and Shantae Barnes-Cowan, are Yael Stone and Callan Mulvey. Firebite is an original production of AMC Studios with See-Saw Films.

Firebite will debut December 16th. New episodes will then come out every Thursday night. There are eight episodes total in the series.
