With the COVID-19 pandemic, our approach to large-scale live events has been forced to evolve. For pop culture fans, this means shifting from in-person to digital Conventions (and back again).

In an effort to continue to evolve the Convention experience, LA Comic Con has partnered with Liquid Avatar Technologies, naming the company its “Digital Innovation Partner.” Liquid Avatar will help LA Comic Con expand its digital content offerings, even as the Con returns to an in-person event this year.

“Liquid Avatar Technologies is a natural fit as Digital Innovation Partner for L.A. Comic Con as we welcome fans back in-person but still continue to develop our virtual and online offerings,” said Chris DeMoulin, CEO at Comikaze Entertainment, LA Comic Con’s parent company. “We’re excited to integrate Liquid Avatar’s AR and digital identity tech while bringing creative, digital content to fans in a new, immersive way.”

When pandemic restrictions prevented LA Comic Con from hosting an in-person event in 2020, the team launched Micro Con, an online Con with virtual panels, digital collectibles, and even an AR shopping experience. With Liquid Avatar, LA Comic Con hopes to continue to strengthen its digital offerings, creating the most expansive and exciting Con for fans.

“We’re thrilled to be named the Digital Innovation Partner for this year’s event,” said David Lucatch, CEO at Liquid Avatar Technologies Inc. “We’re huge fans of the Con scene and this event is a great platform to introduce our technology to a new, engaged audience and enhance the fan experience. We’re planning to announce and release some exciting brand-new, exclusive content. We hope this marks the beginning of a collaborative, long-term relationship.”

Liquid Avatar plans to showcase its technology at LA Comic Con, unveiling new and exclusive projects; hosting panels and meet-and-greets with writers, artists, and industry icons; and creating and administering an Augmented Reality scavenger hunt in conjunction with its subsidiary, Oasis Digital Studios, to showcase a host of digital collectibles.

LA Comic Con, Los Angeles’ largest event for comics, gaming, sci-fi and pop culture, runs from December 3 – 5 this year. You can grab your tickets now.
