Get ready to Scream for a brand-new Ghostface!

Hit teen slasher franchise Scream returns for a fifth installment in January 2022.

“This is the fifth one… it’s not Scream 5, though,” clarified returning star Courteney Cox in an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show. “It’s not a reboot, it’s not a remake, it’s just a brand new launch.”

Cox will reprise her franchise role as Gale Weathers. Other returning cast members include Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, David Arquette as Dewey Riley, and Marley Shelton as Judy Hicks.

The Scream vets will be joined by new teens for Ghostface to terrorize, including Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, and Jenna Ortega.

An essential part of the Scream franchise involves the dramatic, twisty reveal of the Ghostface killer. So, it won’t come as a surprise to longtime fans that plot details for the latest film are being kept under wraps. Still, we did get our first real look at the film thanks to Entertainment Weekly. The outlet shared the first images from Scream today.

The latest entry into the Scream franchise will be the first film not directed by the late Wes Craven. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will pick up the director’s mantle. The pair previously collaborated on horror-comedy Ready or Not. Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original film and produced two of the sequels, also serves as an executive producer on this latest feature.
