NEW RELEASE: FILMS
SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS (ONLY IN THEATERS)
Marvel is dropping one of their most exciting releases of the year with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This will technically be the first film to start off Phase 4 and critics are falling in love with it. The film is directed by Short Term 12’s Destin Daniel Cretton and stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Michelle Yeoh, Florian Munteanu, Men’er Zhang, Fala Chen, and Ronny Chieng. That Hashtag Show’s own Hunter Bolding said that Shang-Chi “is one of the best movies that Marvel has ever made. It’s their best origin story since Iron Man”. Obviously, this is the film to see this weekend in the theaters. [See Our Full Review Here!]
WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING (IN THEATERS AND ON VOD)
This wild and grotesque apocalyptic horror film based on Max Booth III’s novel of the same name… will not be for everyone. It follows a family of four stuck in their bathroom during the apocalypse. And tensions rise as all of their innermost demons come to the surface. This is a claustrophobic, anxiety-ridden film that is not for the faint of heart. But, this is the definition of a midnight movie and I believe that many people will fall in love with it.

NEW RELEASE: TV
ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING (HULU)
Steve Martin and Martin Short are back and with them they have brought the never-been-better Selena Gomez. This delightful Hulu murder mystery series combines just the right amount of heart and humor to go along with the thrills. I said in my review for the show that, “Even though it might be a tad slight and silly, this is a show for any lover of true crime or dry comedy.” This is a definite must-watch. [See Our Full Review Here!]
The first three episodes of Only Murders in the Building are streaming now on Hulu. New episodes premiere every Tuesday.
DUG DAYS (DISNEY+)
This five-episode short series on Disney+ follows Dug, the adorable golden retriever from “Up”. The late Ed Asner also reprised his role as Carl in the series, which will be one of his last screen performances. I said in my review, “Dug Days can be a bit slight and repetitive, but in these five episodes, Pixar has somehow been able to recreate the magic of Up through the eyes of that beloved talking golden retriever.” [See Our Full Review Here!]
All five episodes of Dug Days are streaming now on Hulu.
