During a virtual TCA presentation today, Paramount+ revealed a new look at Star Trek Prodigy.
The joint production with Nickelodeon marks the first series in the franchise directed at a younger audience. You can watch the official title sequence for Prodigy below.
The clip gives fans a good feel for the animation style they can expect in the series. If you want a better look at some of the characters though, you’ll want to check out the previously released teaser. (This opening just shows the ship exploring space.) The title sequence features a theme composed by Academy Award winner Michael Giacchino. Giacchino previously scored Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Star Trek Beyond.
“As always I am thrilled to be a part of the Star Trek family,” said Giacchino. “I’m especially looking forward to everyone hearing the incredible work of composer Nami Melumad, who will take the reins of scoring the episodes. Not only is she extremely talented, she is a true Star Trek fan.”
The TCA presentation also revealed a first look at Star Trek: Prodigy’s main villains. You can catch a glimpse of The Diviner (voiced by John Noble) and Drednok (voiced by Jimmi Simpson) below.
We don’t have a full trailer or release date for Prodigy yet. But Paramount+ will host a special Star Trek Day presentation September 8, so we may have more details soon.
Star Trek: Prodigy follows a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning, and salvation. The series will feature the return of Voyager’s Kate Mulgrew as Captain Janeway.
