Netflix’s upcoming Addams family series is rounding out its cast, and it’s time to meet your new Morticia. Catherine Zeta-Jones will play the family matriarch in Wednesday.
Zeta-Jones joins the recently cast Luis Guzmán, who will play Gomez. The Addams parents will have guest starring roles opposite lead Jenna Ortega, who plays the title character Wednesday Addams.
Wednesday, a live-action coming-of-age series, will follow the character’s time as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
With quite a few Addams family shows and films already in existence, Morticia has been played by several other actors before. Anjelica Huston starred in the Addams Family films of the ‘90s. More recently, Charlize Theron voiced the character in the animated feature adaptations.
So, what do you think of Zeta-Jones playing Morticia? Are you excited to see her appear opposite Guzmán? Personally, the addition of Zeta-Jones feels pretty natural to me. I’m excited to see how her appearance plays out. But let us know in the comments what you think.
