If you missed out on the spooky re-imagining of The Addams Family from last year, now is the perfect time to catch up. Out on Blu-Ray and digital now, the film from directors Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan is a faithful retelling of the original family. It stars Oscar Isaac as Gomez Addams. That casting in particular is fantastic. If they could make a live-action version, Issac would be the perfect choice. Charlize Theron stars as Morticia Addams in another bit of perfect casting. Rounding out the Addams children are Chloe Grace Moretz and Finn Wolfhard as Wednesday and Pugsley Addams. In addition to those stars, funny-man extraordinaire, Nick Kroll provides the voice for Uncle Fester in a hilarious portrayal. Allison Janney and Elsie Fisher round out the cast portraying Margaux and Parker Needler. Snoop Dogg finishes up the cast as the strange but cool, Cousin It.
What About The Special Features?
The special features for the release are pretty hefty for a brand new release. In the package you get: deleted and extended scenes, a game of charades with Thing, and two lyric videos with the songs “Haunted Heart” and “My Family”. In addition to those you get featurettes: Life of a Scene, Welcome to the Family, and the Addams Family Throwback. Finally, you get a digital copy included with the Blu-Ray.
The film is designed to look more like the original comic strip from 1938 in the New Yorker. It’s a silly film that’s wholesome and fun for the whole family. That gets thrown around a lot by people in the media when talking about children’s or teens films. This one in particular is one that everyone can enjoy and watch.
