Later this year, it’s going to be Robot Fighting Time once again! As announced by Discovery Channel, BattleBots is back for 2 more seasons. This is exciting because this means Discovery is willing to back this show and let more people get to either watch it for the first time or let returning fans, myself included, enjoy more robot fighting.

For those who don’t know anything about BattleBots, think of it like UFC, except it’s robots fighting instead of humans. And this season it’s going to be even crazing than last season, because the BattleBox is getting a load of new hazards for even more fun and a lot more tension from the audience.

Discovery’s EVP of Multiplatform Programming, Discovery Factual & Head Of Content For Science Channel mentioned:

I can’t wait to once again hear the iconic opening words, ‘It’s robot fighting time!’ as announced by Faruq [Tauheed] across Discovery platforms. Vegas is one of the few places in the entire world that can match the adrenaline and fun of this competition and I’m thrilled it will be the backdrop to host these incredibly talented robot designers, builders and fighters.

Coming Back To Vegas And Bringing Back The Announce Team

For the show to go to Vegas is one thing, but for this year’s World Championships to be in Vegas and in front of a live audience is something different and special. And to have the entire broadcast team back for this year and next year is going to be super special.

Meanwhile, the creator of BattleBots Trey Roski mentioned:

Stand by Vegas! The bots are on their way from all over the world. This is the most exciting development for the sport; to have a multiyear commitment from a broadcaster is what we’ve always wanted to enable our talented builders to have time to plan and design even more ferocious and imaginative robots for the future. It’s a great day for BattleBots, and we’re delighted to have such a supportive partner as Discovery. Since BattleBots started 21 years ago, I’ve always dreamed that Vegas would be the ideal permanent home for the sport. Now thanks to Discovery and Caesars we’re achieving that goal.

To recap last season, New Zealand-based End Game ended up being the 2020 Season Champs. So going into the 2021 season, they have both a chip on their shoulders and a target on their backs. Teams like Tombstone, Hydra, Sawblaze, Witch Doctor, and many others are looking to take End Game down.

Finally, there is an Eventbrite page to see all of the action unfold live this year.
